Apple crisps are the American equivalent to the the British
apple crumble. They are really a variant on the original apple crumble recipe with
slightly more margarine / butter and sugar.
As with the apple crumble recipes (see red tab at top of the page), various
fruits can be used instead of simply apples. Rhubarb and raspberries are
excellent alternatives. Cream, ice cream or custard are superb toppings for this
recipe and the apple crisp can be eaten hot or cold. |
